Abstract

Infection by Streptococcus pyogenes has been increasing in Chile and the world. Infection by this agent can give very varied manifestations, from non-invasive infections to other invasive ones that threaten life. The aim of this article is to review the epidemiological changes that have occurred in our country in recent times, microbiological aspects, the different clinical manifestations, mainly invasive ones, in order to promote a high clinical suspicion, early, to establish its adequate and rational management.
