Abstract

Mucormycosis is a rare and potentially lethal invasive fungal infection caused by fungi of the order Mucorales. The gastrointestinal location of these infections is uncommon, representing less than 15% of all reported cases.

We report the case of a patient with poorly controlled type 2 diabetes mellitus who presented with gastric mucormycosis confirmed by biopsy and a brief review of the topic is carried out in relation to this case.
